When I got home from the hospital, one of the 1st things I did was pull out all my favourite pre-pregnancy jeans & try them on...not only did none of them fit but I could barely get them up over my thunderous thighs & butt!! Before allowing myself to feel too dejected about this, I cut myself some slack & resigned myself to my maternity jeans for the time being...On Friday, after putting on said maternity jeans, they looked really baggy...so I tried on my jeans again...just to see...I didn't hold out much hope & gave myself a little pep talk as I pulled them up telling myself it had only been 3 weeks so if they didn't fit...but THEY FIT!! Yeah, me!!
As I slim down into my pre-pregnancy clothes, Miss Elena is already out growing stuff!! She doesn't fit in the outfit she came home from the hospital in & there are a few sleepers now that just aren't fitting well...cute thing is, she seems to be growing longer rather than chubbier so the next size sleepers fit her length wise but she's swimming in them...too cute.
Everything has been going along well for us...Elena seems to like to be up most the night & sleep during the day...which makes for going out pleasant since she sleeps the whole time but makes me a little tired...it's nice in theory to say, "Sleep when the baby sleeps" but there's a lot of stuff that needs to be done during the day that can't be done at 3am...but we're managing...I'm getting enough sleep not to be a zombie...I have been tempted to hit the 24 hour grocery or drug store just for something to do at 3am but as my Mom pointed out, "There are weirdos out at 3am!" LOL!
Pre-preggo jeans already! Good grief, I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteGrocery shopping at 3am (well, 11pm)is something I do now. If only because I want to avoid: crowds, Sunday strollers, people in electric carts, and screaming children in the cookie/cracker aisle. It goes much more quickly and that's when they're restocking the shelves so they're very rarely out of anything.
OMG I love doing my errands and shopping in the wee early hours like that (thank goodness for 24 hour wally worlds, walgreens and cvs). It's so much calmer and quieter out and there's no one else around to be rude to you or get in your way. It's almost like you're the only one in the world for that brief moment in time. It's my favorite time of the day lol.
ReplyDeleteNice job on the jeans. I just know I'm going to be one of those women who gains tons even though she eats so little. Bad hormones, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI've never gone grocery shopping at 3 am even when I lived a block from a 24 hour grocery store. But I do live a short walk from a 24 hour pharmacy. I always wonder who goes shopping in the middle of the night besides university students hitting the stores for snacks after last call at 1:30. lol I think it would be a lot quieter at that time of day and you wouldn't have to fight with people to get the sale items either.
Yay for the weight loss!
ReplyDeleteAnd lovely how Elena is outgrowing her clothes!!
Oh and the sleep when baby sleeps.. as you said easy said than done. My Butterfly hardly slept, in which besides sleeping I had to feed myself, have a shower, pump, etc. But good that you're getting enough sleep.
Thanks for your comment! And congratulations to you too!! I wish I could say the same about my pre-pregnancy weight!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I would love to feature your success story on my blog and in an upcoming book I am going to start putting together that compiles the ones I have on my blog. Go to this post for the details and thanks in advance: http://stressfreeinfertilityblog.com/2010/01/17/calling-all-success-stories/

Tiara! I missed Elena's entrance!! Rats! I have just read all of your posts, thanks for the detailed birth story. I am so pleased for you, it really does sound like you had a tough labour though. Shame they couldn't have topped up your epidural!! I'm glad you had your mum and aunty with you, they sound great. Wow, life is different huh? I'm very happy for you babe, remember to take care of yourself and don't worry too much about housekeeping! Breast feeding can be a wonderful weight loss program for some women, glad to hear about the jeans ;)
