All By Myself...

I am spending my 1st night away from Elena tonight...she is at home with my Mom & I am away for a work conference...it's 1 night...it already feels like a life time...I feel guilty...guilty because I'm looking forward to a bed all to myself...guilty because I don't think I feel guilty enough...I'm afraid she'll be sad & feel abandoned but I'm more afraid she'll hardly notice I'm gone. I'm worried she'll act out in retaliation. I hate that I still have to complete a full days work tomorrow before I get to see her again...more than anything, I am tired & am going to go to sleep...

  1. I'm dreading the day I have to have a night away from Finn. She'll be just fine, but I can understand all your guilt and crazy emotions.

I hope you sleep well and the day flies by tomorrow!

  2. The first time I spent time away from L I was a mess. Recently I spent 5 days awawy from her and I loved it. I felt guilty but I loved sleeping in and being my own woman again. That being said, once I saw her I couldn't stop kissing her little face. They actually do okay with seperation, it's us moms that have a hard time.

  3. Granted I haven't had to leave my son yet (and I'm sad about the idea of him not being inside and with me all the time).....but I think you should take a moment and do something you can't do with Elena around. For example, do you ever get to take a long relaxing bath? Or maybe you don't normally have time to get a drink with a coworker. Do something for you tonight to celebrate that freedom!

  4. She'll be just fine away from you for this short time. They almost always are. It's us most of the time that don't fare as well. I've spent spent nights away from J (he's only downstairs sometimes when I'm at work) but I always miss him so much and used to feel guilty for not grabbing him up when I got home. It's crazy because though I miss him, I love stretching out in bed by myself.

  5. You are leaving her with your mum who knows her and loves her. I am sure she'll be fine:-). And do look forward for a bed alone without feeling guilty - if you have to be away from her, might as well get the best you can out of it, and if it's a joy for one single night to have a bed alone, than enjoy it..

  7. oh poor you!

like everyone says, she will be totally fine.

since you HAVE to be away, and no amount of guilt can change it... can you take advantage of it?

sprawl over the king size bed? order room service? sleep later than usual, if not actually late (because of work)? just plain luxuriate in being alone?

  9. She'll be fine. It's you I am worried about! LOL! Seriously try to enjoy and know she is good hands.

But it is easy for me to say, I haven't spent a night away from Elsie yet. My first will be in July for a friend's wedding. I'll probably just drink a lot to get over my anxiety! :)
